ORGANISATION AND CONTACTS
The Green is run by the Old Bakehouse Millennium Green Trust, a registered charity consisting of 10 trustees.
The purpose of the Trust is to maintain and develop the Millennium Green so as to provide a safe and pleasant haven for residents and visitors to the town and to encourage wildlife into the area.
The trustees meet quarterly for formal business, but meet informally on several occasions through the year on work days and to run events.

The "Friends" of the Green number about 32 local people who help with its maintenance and with events. Once a year for a fortnight they each keep the Green clear of litter and weeds, clean the seats, etc, and fill the bird feeders.
It would not be possible to keep up with the garden maintenance without the help of Kevin the
gardener who works on alternate Fridays from March to October. We are very grateful that funding
for the gardener is provided by an annual grant from Morpeth Town Council.
All other costs are met by fund -raising events and applications to various funding organisations, notably the Lottery Fund. Each year in January a management plan is put together to set out the projects for the year and the work to be done.
The busiest time, apart from around event days, is in the autumn when the trustees get stuck into the annual clean-up. Periodically, this involves not only leaf clearing, but also pruning and coppicing on an increasingly large scale as the garden matures.
Twice a year the secretary sends out a newsletter to the Friends to keep them in touch with developments.
